Iris Reading aligned with the University’s Business school and their dedication to empowering students to be A.G.I.L.E. for the V.U.C.A. – Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous – world. The Business School is recognized globally for their excellence not only in education but research as well. Our team discovered that the Business School students were spending an abundance of hours on research every single week.
The common challenge that raised with a majority of students included their need to read an article and extract the main themes to include in their research reports. Students found themselves re-reading material over and over. This habit led to additional hours wasted each week in studying. During the training an emphasis was placed on helping students read a piece of dense material one time, and understand it the first time. Students introduced to the topic of Speed Reading found themselves a little skeptical at first, but were pleasantly surprised when they discovered a majority of the workshop (60%) was dedicated to comprehension.
The National University of Singapore continues to provide enhanced holistic programmes, where their students are groomed to possess multiple skill sets in several disciplines and the know-how to problem – solve new business challenges, produce quality results and thrive in the current demanding workforce.
